ROD & GUN CLUB TRAP Banquet 2007
Thursday Evening September 6th, 2007 was the timeframe of the banquet and
awards ceremony of the soon to be annual, Norman C. Preston Memorial Summer
Trap League. Over 35 people filled the clubhouse for a sumptuous "potluck"
style buffet. The awards ceremony followed immediately after dinner.
Plaques for personal achievement on the club trap range were awarded to John MacLellan for breaking 75 straight targets, Rich Botto for breaking fifty straight targets and newcomer Bill Swanson for breaking 25 straight targets.
On this occasion, two of our own Hanson Rod & Gun Club's Junior Members, Adam Preston and Dan Kelly, were awarded their Junior Range Officer Caps by Chief Range Officer Kevin Casey. Both boys earned their caps for taking initiative earlier this summer during the Trap Shooting Seminar held by our own club Trap Range Committee for the Bridgewater, Massachusetts Boy Scouts.
Duffel bags embroidered with the Hanson Rod & Gun Club logo as well as with script commemorating the recent shoot were awarded as prizes for "Honorable Mention" to Bob MacFarland, Matt McCormack and Angelo Nuby. Missing in action at this time, however still receiving an award for "Honorable Mention" were Jim Mientkiewicz Sr., Jim Mientkiewicz Jr., and Kirk Obillo.
Trophies for this shoot were distributed as follows. In the Bronze Division: fifth place was awarded to another trap newcomer Christine Coig, fourth place was awarded to Junior Member Dan Kelly, third place was awarded to Kerry Glass and second place was awarded to Dom DeAngelo. Finally, first place was awarded to Junior Member Adam Preston.
In the Silver Division: fourth place was awarded to Randy Dunn, third place was awarded to Stan Bonney and second place was awarded to John Coyman. Finally, first place was awarded to Rich Botto.
In the Gold Division: sixth place was awarded to Bob Leonard, fifth place was awarded to Club President Paul Williams, fourth place was awarded to Club Vice President Dave Bouldry, third place was awarded to Dana Leonard and second place was awarded to John MacLellan. Last, but not least, first place was awarded to Trap Chairman Bob Preston.
The "Top Gun" and "Eagle Trophy" along with the infamous title of "Club Trap Champion" was awarded to Dean Matta with a final score of 592 out of 600. Pictured below is Dean with his trophy along side a picture of Norman C. Preston. Please scroll down for pictures.
All shooters are reminded that The Fred Hall Memorial Winter Trap League begins on November 1st and will run for 16 weeks. A barbecue on the trap range on Sunday, November 4th, 2007 will kick off this annual fall program! Keeping with a Hanson Trap Range tradition, a springtime "potluck" dinner and awards night will be held at the conclusion of this annual event.
So

From
The Trap Range Committee Chairman:
On a more personal note I would like to thank all of my fellow club trap shooters,
the range committee members, the Club Officers, the Board of Directors Members
as well as everyone who helped make this particular summer league possible.
Norm Preston was a member of this club from 1970 until his death in September
of 1987. During those seventeen years he was a member of the Trap Committee,
The Board of Directors and for one year held the seat of Club Vice President.
He loved the shooting sport of trap and in 1972, became one of several of
our club's first "Trap" Distinguished Experts. I would also like
to thank Senior Member Randy Dunn and Vice President Dave Bouldry, both of
whom were long time friends of my father, for their idea to hold this summer
league in my Dad's memory. I am sure that if he were alive today he would
feel very honored. In closing, on behalf of my wife Joanne and the Preston
family I want to thank all of you once again for this wonderful memorial to
my father. It is to say the least, very greatly appreciated!
Most
Sincerely,
Bob Preston
